"Miles with Micro"
Welcome to Miles with Micro! I’m beyond excited to have you join me on this adventure across the U.S., where my IRL self, Jared, and my online persona, Micro, come together to explore, learn, and grow. This journey is about connecting with friends, new faces, and communities, all while bridging the gap between the creative technologist behind the screen and the gamer in the Minecraft world. Whether you know me as Micro or Jared, you’ll get to see both sides in action as we dive into new experiences.
From bustling cities to remote towns, from casual meetups to creative projects, this trip is about discovery—of people, places, perspectives, and connections. Let’s set off together, exploring all the things that make life (and the online world) exciting. Ready for the ride? Let’s make some memories, and don’t forget to check back for stories, photos, and more along the way!
Preserving History: The Remarkable Journey of the Whitten House
The Whitten House in Topsham, Maine, is far more than a historic building—it’s a deeply evocative space where the echoes of the past resonate with every creak of its wooden floors and every beam in the ceiling. Built nearly two centuries ago and lovingly restored, the house tells a story that spans generations, from its origins as a family home to its transformation into a public library and its eventual return to private residence. Each detail of the house, from its architecture to its atmosphere, carries the weight of history, standing as a testament to the craftsmanship and care of those who came before. Yet, the house isn’t simply a relic of the past—it is alive with warmth, creativity, and the stories of those who inhabit it today. For me, the Whitten House has become much more than a temporary dwelling. Within its sunlit rooms and storied walls, I have found a sanctuary for reflection and growth, a place that fuels creativity and provides a rare sense of grounding. Its current owners, Andrew and Scott, embody the spirit of the house with their hospitality and dedication to preserving its history, creating an environment that feels both comforting and inspiring. As I work and live here, I am reminded of the legacies we inhabit, the stories we contribute to, and the spaces that shape us. The Whitten House stands as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of past and present, urging me to consider the marks we leave behind and the ways in which we are all part of a larger, enduring narrative.
